Settings feel like a maze? cinemaOS keeps its preferences in a few clearly named panels. This tutorial walks through each of them and says what the preference changes, so you can set up the workspace once and get back to the project.

Steps

  1. General. Open Settings. General controls interface motion, sound, language and project recovery. Choose what makes your workspace comfortable.
  2. Theme & Visuals. This panel changes the canvas and the accent colour. The recording keeps Pure Black for a clear, consistent workspace.
  3. Playback. Playback sets the default preview quality and the audio hardware. Lower preview quality can lighten editing; exports still render from the originals.
  4. Media & Proxies. This panel sets import behaviour, proxy Generation and Proxy playback. Choose lighter media when the source is demanding.
  5. Momentum Dial. Edit Slices assigns the actions available on each Dial surface, for example the Timeline clip surface.
  6. Displays & Output and Delivery. Displays & Output assigns clean monitoring feeds. Delivery sets the Default codec, the Export destination and the filename pattern.
  7. Updates. Updates checks the version. Change one preference, then review your project.

Notes

  • The Playback help text states that exports always render from the original media, whatever the preview quality.
  • Edit Slices remaps the Dial's wheel slices. It is not a global keyboard shortcut editor.
  • These are app-wide preferences. The changes made for the demonstration were restored afterwards, and no project was created or edited for this lesson.
