Text overflowing its frame? Linked frames in the Layout room let one story run through two columns, and a warning tells you when words are hidden. This tutorial sets a two-column page, adds an image page and exports the document as a PDF.
Steps
- Set the story frame. In Layout, put your story in a text frame. Set Auto-Size and Shrink Type to Off so the letters keep their intended size.
- Link a second frame. Choose Add Linked Frame, then move the continuation into the second column. Both frames share one story.
- Reflow and fix OVERSET. Resize the first frame and watch the words reflow. Check the OVERSET warning, then give the story enough room to fit.
- Add an image page. Use Add Page for a separate second page. Place a photograph there, leaving the linked story on page one.
- Export the document. Choose PDF Snapshot with Document page selected. Inspect both exported pages for complete text, clean spacing and a full-bleed image.
Notes
- The story is a 103-word original text in two linked frames on page one. Page two is an independent full-bleed image; the frames do not flow across pages.
- Body type in the project: Space Grotesk at 42 px with a line height of 1.25. The header keeps the default typeface.
- In the exported PDF the continuation frame begins with one blank paragraph line.
- The photographs are generated assets from the TUSSENIN demonstration project, owned by Momentum Studios.
