Flat photo? Keep the atmosphere. The Photo room in Atelier shapes the tones of a still without crushing the softness that made it worth keeping. This tutorial adds Levels to one photograph, blends it in and exports a web copy.

Steps

  1. Add Levels. In Atelier, choose Photo, then find Levels in Effects. It arrives as a layer above the photograph, so the original stays intact underneath.
  2. Set the black point and gamma. Bring in the black point gently, then adjust gamma. Keep the face clear without crushing every shadow.
  3. Blend with Strength. Levels stays in Layers, above the photo. Reduce Strength to blend the treatment with the original instead of applying it at full force.
  4. Compare. Use Original, Split and After to compare. Watch the skin tones and the brightest part of the background.
  5. Export a copy. Export Photo saves a separate copy. Choose Web JPEG for a compact image that is ready to share. The editable project keeps the layers.

Notes

  • Values in the recording: Black 0.04, Gamma 1.10, Output Black 0.02 and Strength 85 percent. The Web JPEG export is 2048 by 1365 pixels.
  • Searching Effects for Levels selects the Stylize group automatically; that is the current route in the app.
  • The photographs are generated assets from the TUSSENIN demonstration project, owned by Momentum Studios. They are not camera photographs.
