Sound needs clarity. The SOUND console in cinemaOS shows the buses and the loudness of your programme while it plays. This tutorial reads the console, adjusts a fader and prepares a voice recording.
Steps
- Open SOUND. Press Command Option S. Start by identifying the channels that carry this scene.
- Read the buses and meters. Inspect the bus menu and watch the loudness meters as the sequence plays. Keep the dialogue easy to understand.
- Adjust in context. Change the mix while listening to the combined result rather than judging one meter alone. In the recording the A1 fader moves from minus 2 to minus 1 dB.
- Prepare a voice take. Open Record Voice with Shift Command R. Check the input and the destination track (a new Voice 1 track in the recording) before you record.
- Listen again. Play the mix at a consistent level. Clarity comes first.
Notes
- No microphone recording is made in the tutorial; it shows the setup up to the point of recording.
- Background reading: Loudness standards for delivery in the Journal.
