Find that one line. cinemaOS transcribes dialogue on your Mac and lets you edit the timeline from the transcript. This tutorial transcribes a scene and removes a passage by selecting its words.
Steps
- Transcribe the scene. Press Shift Command T to Transcribe with J.A.R.E.D. Start with clear dialogue in the selected scene. Transcription runs locally.
- Open Text Editing. When transcription is complete, open the Text Editing tab in the bin. Read the words alongside the footage.
- Select the passage. Select the lines you want to work on. Check that the highlighted text corresponds to the intended section of the scene.
- Make the edit and inspect the timeline. Removing the selected lines cuts the linked V1 and A1 clips. Play the joins and listen for clipped words or awkward pauses.
- Treat the transcript as an aid. Review the words and the cut before moving on. The transcript finds the line; your ear decides the edit.
Notes
- In the recording the selected-line removal shortens the scene from 130 to 128 seconds.
- The tutorial audio is narration and music only; the film's dialogue is not part of the recording.
- Background reading: Transcribe an interview and edit by text in the Journal.
